A southbound hop down the Cyclades — Athens, then three nights each on Naxos, Paros, and Santorini — stitched together by short flights and fast ferries, with a boat day or a guided outing folded into almost every stop. Odysseus needed ten years to cross this wine-dark sea; you'll manage it in eleven days, with air-conditioning and someone else carrying the bags.

The Charlotte connection is tight (2h 25m) with customs in between — the pinch point of the day. Silver lining: the whole crew rides up front in first class on the Houston–Chicago hop to start things off right.

One open evening (the 14th). All an easy walk from the hotel.
Voukourestiou is watch row — ORA Kessaris and Gofas are official Rolex dealers, with Patek, AP, and JLC boutiques a few doors apart. All closed Sundays, so the free Monday afternoon is the window (shuts at 5, when the food tour starts). Wendy's shops line Ermou nearby.
A brand-new, spa-like SLH retreat ~10 minutes from Naxos town, near a protected turtle beach. The greenest, most down-to-earth of the islands.

What to expect in mid-September
Late September is the sweet spot: warm days, cooler evenings, calm-ish seas, and the summer crowds thinning out.
- Highs in the mid-80s°F, evenings 65–70°F
- Sea around 75–77°F — very swimmable
- Mostly sun; the meltemi wind can pick up on boat days
- Rain is rare but not impossible — pack one light layer

Pack for it
Mid-September is warm and calm — light layers and cottons in muted tones, swimwear, sun protection, and a light jacket for boat evenings. Resist the head-to-toe white-linen "Mamma Mia" look (one linen piece reads local; the full set reads costume). Skip the sandals at home and buy Greek leather ones in Athens (~€30–60). Bring a 220V adapter — and leave room in the bag for the trip home, because once Wendy's been shopping, that suitcase is a bit of a Trojan Horse at Charlotte customs.

- Currency: euro (€). Cards widely accepted; carry some cash for tips & small vendors.
- Plugs: 220V, Type C/F — bring an adapter.

Paperwork & the passport talk
Passports valid 6+ months beyond travel, with 2 blank pages. Check the EU's EES/ETIAS entry status for Sept 2026. Trip insurance is handled by JoAnn.
One note for Matt: Mark has Wendy to make sure his passport lands in the bag; you're your own paralegal here — set yours by the door tonight. A forgotten passport is the one objection the gate agent will sustain.
The Office Pool
Somewhere between the jet lag, a 20,000-step day, and a ferry that waits for no one, someone is going to have a Moment. The early line: Resident Counsel, by a comfortable margin — he runs hot, and his mother's "casual stroll" is everyone else's cardio. Long shot: Wendy, who is Dutch and has seen worse. Smart money says Mark plays peacemaker — extends the olive branch, says "fist my bump," and talks everyone down before dessert.
The home front is covered: Ava and March (Matt's) and Abbey (JoAnn's) are bunking with Grandpa Buz, while Ginger holds down Austin. Everyone's accounted for — go enjoy Greece.
